Socio-cultural issues with Wes Davis – Tuesday October 10th – 3pm – 4.50pm

Outline:  Having analysed areas of difficulty on paper 3, Wes will suggest innovative ways to approach the more challenging areas of the specification. Teaching and learning strategies will be offered which focus on both subject knowledge and exam skills. There will be ample opportunity to raise questions – with a guarantee of straightforward, supportive and reliable answers.

Focus:

•  helping students find their routes to excellence on paper 3! Why did students drop marks?

➢applying the command word ‘compare’ in relation to pre-industrial Britain and media.
➢analysing 21 st century data questions efficiently using the ‘what and why?’approach
➢how to evaluate strategies to prevent doping
➢putting the global into globalisation questions (successfully interpreting the question)
➢evaluating the impact of media on sport

• the synoptic question – Updated information on what this question requires for 2023 and beyond.

➢are examples needed in both parts of the question?
➢interpreting specific requirements of part 1 – Global events
➢how to ensure your students provide ‘World class’ answers when writing about the national institutes of sport
